Aspen Park Baptist Church will celebrate its 50th Anniversary Sunday, May 3, at 10:30 a.m. with a service lead by First Baptist Broken Arrow Pastor Nick Garland and followed by a catered lunch on the church grounds.

The church began as a mission of First Baptist in 1963 as Clayton Baptist Church. Two years later, on May 2, 1965, the mission became a self-supporting congregation.

It was a monetary gift from the Clayton family that enabled First Baptist to purchase the property and structure from Old Paths Pentecostal Church on South Aspen. The mission’s first service was held on June 7, 1963.

In its 50-year history, the church has seen a number of changes including a name change from Clayton Baptist Church to Aspen Park Baptist Church in 1992. Six pastors and three interim pastors have served Clayton/Aspen over the past 50 years.
